Capabilities

Built to
make things.

Parametric & Surface Modelling

SolidWorks, advanced surfacing with overbuilding techniques, surface continuity, and form development from concept to manufacture-ready.

Rapid Prototyping

FDM 3D printing, composite fabrication, mid-to-high fidelity physical artefacts. From digital model to object in hand.

Electronics Prototyping

Applied electronics, wireless systems, microcontroller integration. Bridging digital interaction with physical product.

Design for Manufacture

DFM from the ground up — material selection, assembly optimisation, injection moulding constraints, packaging design.

VR Design & Gravity Sketch

Immersive 3D concept development in virtual reality. Spatial ideation at human scale before committing to CAD.

User Research

Primary research methodologies, anthropometric analysis, digital scanning, and insight-driven design decisions.

Product designer.
Built to make things.

I'm Rory Deely — a product designer graduating from Loughborough's School of Design and Creative Arts in 2025. My work sits at the intersection of physical engineering and considered form: products that function precisely because of how they look, not in spite of it.

I design from material reality outwards — starting with how something will be made, what it will feel like to hold, and what it needs to communicate before I touch a CAD package. The result is work that holds up under scrutiny: in the hand, on a shelf, and in a factory.

Across three years at Loughborough I've worked across electronics prototyping, SolidWorks surfacing, VR concept development, DFM and composite fabrication — building a range that lets me own a product from first sketch to manufacture-ready drawings.
